A portrait of Kijo, the female demon of Mount Togakushi. She is a character from the Noh and Kabuki plays titled “Momijigari”. In this painting, Senju explores the possibility of using a full-body traditional Irezumi tattoo to transform the wearer into the character of Kijo instead of merely using an image of Kijo as the main tattoo motif. By doing so, he wants to explore the inherent psychological and ritualistic power of tattoos on the human body.

This beautiful limited edition of 50 copies in each size is printed on 230 gsm high-quality matte paper. Each numbered print is signed by the artist and stamped on the back with the artist’s red seal (hanko). A hanko is hand carved and unique and therefore assures the authenticity of the print.
