Irezumi, the Japanese traditional tattoo, usually covers most of the wearer’s skin, turning what was once naked and pale into a full color brocade. Thus it blurs the line in-between nudity and being clothed. In this work, Senju once again returns to the aesthetics of kinbaku (Japanese consensual rope bondage), exploring the combination of two distinctly underground, yet very Japanese cultures. Combined in a single image, the effect is striking and beautiful, offering a sense of subtle, sensual erotica.

This beautiful limited edition of 50 copies in each size is printed on 230 gsm high-quality matte paper. Each numbered print is signed by the artist and stamped on the back with the artist’s red seal (hanko). A hanko is hand carved and unique and therefore assures the authenticity of the print.
